New Music Friday: 9/20/10 DJ Nick Flash’s Top 10

It’s New Music Friday again! #newmusicfriday

This weeks top 10 happened to be a challenge, because there was a shortage of really memorable tunes. I had to dig deep, but eventually I came out with gold. {With the help of my girlfriend Derebear}.

Blink 182

Rock continues it’s resurgence as blink-182 releases their 9th studio album conveniently entitled Nine. Fans of the group are sure to be impressed with this album. First off, It has all the pop-punk flare that their first albums did. Yet Nine retains a modern feel that has it’s finger on the pulse of the youth. Travis Barker is in the prime of his career, and helps steer this band into the future of Rock n’ Roll.

Two of my top 10 New Music Friday choices this week were based solely on their album art. But after playing them, I grew much fonder of them. And the fact that my girlfriend liked them so much. Those two are Tove LoSweettalk my heart & iIi – changes.

My favorite new artist discovered tonight has to be GOLDN. His single, hurt people, is not only relatable, but extremely groovy and futuristic.

Mike Posner is back from a soul searching hiatus which proved to be quite valuable. His sound is fresh and mature. Grown and sexy with a funky hip-hop flare that transcends any of todays trends.

Russ seems to have a real knack for releasing singles. His new one is a smash, and proves that treating your woman like a queen ain’t going out of style.

What would my top 10 list be without some house music? Dom Dolla finesses the countdown with a bass heavy tech house groove San Frandisco that’s sure to get the dance floor rocking.

French Native Bakar dropped a jazzy little gem and caught our attention for the first time with their tune Stop Selling Her Drugs.

Gryffin takes the top spot this week

AlunaGeorge

In a series of what has been some incredible singles, Gryffin enrolls the help of Gorgon City & AlunaGeorge for an grade A club classic. Don’t believe me? Have a listen for yourself!
