New Music Monday 10/14/19 YouTube Debut!

Today I’m finally rolling out the Youtube Version of New Music Mondays. Now you can watch my ugly mug break down the best songs of the week.

#10 The Lost Kings feat. Sevyn Streeter x Luh Kel – LA & The Parties

LA & TheParties is a cool little banger about two people who’re fed up with the nightlife scene and looking for a real relationship. Rather than all the fake bullsh*t going on in the club. As a Dj, it’s hard not to relate to this song.

#9 Father – ICEMAN

This is one cold, cold tune.

#8 Terrell Hines – Get Up

This track was a bit difficult for me to describe because it doesn’t really fit into any specific genre. But after finding out more about Terrrell, that’s what he’s known for. After visiting Backbeatmanagement.com , it states “Terrell Hines work holistically presents a new form of sonic reality: one that aims to represent both past and future advancements in music, design, and technology.” Talk about a modern renaissance man!

#7 Khai Dreams – Sandals

This track is easily one of the most feel good songs on my list this week. And the most fun! It’s got an uptempo dance rock groove that makes you feel like it can be summer forever. Ultimately, sandals is a love song. A love song that still touches on the hard times of love but doesn’t dwell on them. It makes you want to grab your girl, spin her around, and give her a huge smooch on the lips!

#6 Les Gordon – Triangulo

I’ve been a fan of Les since 2017 after discovering his song Interlaced on Spotify. I was hooked instantly. That led me to an earlier single of his called Atlas which fit seamlessly into my dj sets thanks to the remix work by Roisto.

Les has a very distinct sound. It’s almost unmistakable. He uses rich, airy vocal samples and mixes them with worldly electronic sounds. Triangulo is no different, and makes you feel as if you’re dancing on your own private island.

#5 Max Styler – Echo Over Me

It’s super important for me to find club bangers each week that dj’s can incorporate in their sets. Max Styler doesn’t disappoint. I first heard Max last year with his single “Feel it.” And although it got lost in may vast vault of dance music, I defiantly see it making a comeback in my sets now.

Echo over me is the perfect tune to keep the energy of the night high while still keeping it smooth and sexy. The track has some retro 90’s dance elements, and it’s build up and drops are sure to get the crowds hands high up in the air.

#4 Herve Pagez & Diplo feat. Charli XCX

I was pretty skeptical when I heard Diplo was remaking the Spice Girls, but I admit it has been making into my dj sets as of lately. Thanks to Majestic‘s new remix, he turned this mostly mediocre remake into a huge banger. This past weekend I mixed it with DoubleOz’s “Make You Sweat” Remix and had the crowd going nuts. Great for 90’s nostalgia and still keeping it new school.

#3 Phantoms feat. Anna Clendening – Say it! (A-Trak Remix)

Pure heat right here y’all. Pure heat. I’m a huge superfan of A-trak, and he just continues to drop banger after banger, solidifying himself as a dance music legend. I mean c’mon, with his recent remix of The Magician’s Ready to Love and now this?! What the heck else will he have in store for us?

This track is just such a hypnotic groove that’ll put the whole dance floor under a trace. Highly recommend for Dj’s and listeners alike.

#2 ROLE MODEL – hello!

hello! is such an original and memorable song.

Surprisingly this is my first time hearing of ROLE MODEL, because he’s been making waves on Spotify since 2017 with songs like Girl in New York & Puerto Rican. hello! is a very piano driven track, and this is showcased by the album art which features the singer playing a bloody piano.

The production is rich in layers, and when the chorus hits the horns really bring it on home. His voice is so silky and smooth. Yet you can feel the pain behind it as he sings the refrain hello! over and over again. Must listen!

#1 Blanco Brown – Funky Tonk

If you would have asked me a couple weeks ago I would have told you Blanco Brown was something of a one-hit wonder, but boy was I wrong. His one hit The Git Up was just introducing this young country star to the world. This guy is incredible and his new album Honeysuckle & Lightning bugs slaps way too hard.

We’re all lucky to be living in 2019 at the beginning of a new era in hip-hop & country genre blending. While Nelly, Field Mob, and Bone Thugs may have dabbled in it, Blanco Brown just kicks it up to a whole nother’ level. It’s exciting what albums like this do for the culture and I’m really looking forward to hearing more “Trailer Trap.”
